Since 1900 the world has seen two world wars and many more, the rise and fall of communism, a shift in political power, the birth of new nations, a population explosion and the 'shrinking' of the world as a result of technological advances which have transformed our daily lives.

Australia, a vast country with an abundance of raw materials, has flourished under these global changes. Millions of people have migrated here in search of a better life, bringing with them their cultures and ideals. What we eat and how we prepare it is a fundamental aspect of our many cultures, new as well as Indigenous, and reflects of our changing society. The history of food in Australia is an exciting one.
