About Prof Peter Clifton

Kraft Foods has engaged Professor Peter Clifton while he was the Head of Clinical Research Unit at CSIRO Health Sciences and Nutrition to independently verify the functional cholesterol lowering attributes of plant sterols in KRAFT liveactive cheese. Kraft once again worked with Prof Clifton, now Head of Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute's Nutrition Intervention Laboratory, for his scientific expertise input to consumer education. Professor Peter Clifton is an early world-leader in the genetic determinants of dietary responsiveness to fat and cholesterol. He is co-author of the best selling publications, The CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet and The Healthy Heart Program; His passion and commitment to the science of nutrition is reflected in his long list of achievements throughout these years. He was recently awarded a fellowship of Nutrition Society of Australia, the society's most senior award to individuals who have made contributions of special merit to scientific study of nutrition and its applications to people and animals. Professor Clifton has also been appointed by the South Australian Minister for Health to the Obesity, Prevention and Lifestyle Scientific Advisory Committee.
