Exercise Description:

Yoga promotes the union of mind, body and spirit.  Some exercises can be challenging; however, there is no expectation to perform. Rather, the goal is to approach postures in comfort.  Classes are structured with a gentle warm-up exercise, and breathing and relaxation at the end, so that after the class you feel that your body and mind are refreshed.

What Muscles You Work:

Improves balance and flexibility, strengthening of muscles in the back, arms, abdomen, upper/lower legs and buttocks.

Tips To Improve Your Yoga

  • Work out on a clean mat or other surface that's not too hard, too soft, or slippery. 
  • Breathe! Breathing is the key element to moving in and out of your postures.
  • Listen to your body. During class, do not force or strain. Do not attempt poses that feel uncomfortable or painful. 
  • Investigate your instructor's experience and qualifications.  

How Not To Get Hurt:

Inform your yoga instructor if you are pregnant, have any physical impairments, or pre-existing medical conditions.  

Essential Equipment:

  • Mats and blankets for comfort whilst you are in various yoga positions.
  • Cushions provide supportive height for meditation and breathing exercises. 
  • Comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement. 
  • Water bottle and drink water, water and more water.
